You must be wondering what is that ?
Normally, I would not have bought a wine with a name like that, unless I had enjoyed it before courtesy the recommendation of a friend.
But surprisingly, for the first time, I bought a Spanish wine at a local store because of the recommendation of the storekeeper ! I am sure he had not tried this wine by himself, so I questioned him rigourously. He kept coming back to the point that he has heard from his previous clients that this is an especially good red wine from Spain and I should try it. I spent almost INR 1,000 (USD 21) based on his words for a wine from a region that I don’t know, a risky proposition in most wine-related cases.
But was I surprised ?! Yes, I was for sure. Both my wife and myself loved this wine, and I am trying to get one more bottle, could not find it again !
This wine is from the Jumilla area of the Murcia region of Spain. The winery which produces this wine is called “Bodegas Juan Gil” in Jumilla. There is history behind all vineyards, and this one is no exception.
What I wanted to mention is that this wine is an excellent red with deep cherry red colour (pleasing to see any time) and has aromas of ripe red fruits (I am not able to figure out the fruits as yet). While I will try to decipher the wine in the next bottle if I can get, I am recommending this wine to all wine lovers. It is more reasonably priced than the Australian wines currently, and it is good value for money.
I am still looking to get the second bottle, what is surprising is that I had to pay USD 21 for one bottle in India, whereas the price for the same wine in Europe is less than 5 Euros ! Come on India, let us kick out the restrictions in enjoying wine at least !!
