New Discovery !
This time it is a crisp Chardonnay from South Eastern Australia.
I picked up a bottle of Yellow Bird 2011 Chardonnay from Giants Supermarket recently.
Did not go wrong on this one. Sophisticated, fruity and nice tanginess on the palate. I am sure that by now, you (the readers) know that I am not a complex or technical wine rater or drinker, and use my own non-technical language to describe the wines that I try out. So, you should not be surprised with my descriptions out here – if you are bothered about the same, please go elsewhere and read about this wine !
Well, at the end of the day, I want you to try out the wines that I write about ! So, there is no harm !!
Clearly, the Yellow Bird Chardonnay has ample amounts of peach flavour with a “creaminess” as the vineyard describes it – and I agree with that description. A kind of different chardonnay, with a smooth finish from a ripe grape, that’s how I would put it.
And all that, for some USD 12, which is pretty reasonable (of course, the ozzies would probably get this for some 30% less in their country, I guess).
I always try out some new wine almost every Saturday – except when I am out of my home in the evening. I always kick myself if the wine that I selected does not work out as expected, so I am almost always pleased when the wine turns out to be good which is some 80% of the time ! So, never be afraid to try out some new wine, you will feel like Columbus !!
Anyway, I would recommend the Yellow Bird Chardonnay as a real good wine for a hot summer day, all on its own……….enjoy it !!!
