Panchavati Gaurav Thali

This was one of the best Thali meals I have had in a long time. My son wanted to go for dinner at this restaurant that I have never heard of, and I kind of reluctantly agreed. My wife persuaded me that it would be good food and worth trying. How can you not go ?

So last evening (Saturday) we went for this Thali full meal at a neighbouring mall in Mumbai. Panchavati Gaurav chain of restaurants is from the city of Nashik in Maharashtra and it has been famous for a while. The food is a combination of Gujarati and Rajasthani varieties – very delicious and fulsome.

It is 100% vegetarian and “unlimited” – in the sense that they will keep repeating what you like till you decide that you cannot eat any more. In that manner, it is a kind of unlimited buffet, though served on your table. The waiters are friendly, though they can be a bit delayed due to demands from multiple tables. The manager is ever-smiling, walking around the restaurant all the time, and wishing the patrons, asking them if we wanted more food, or if everything is OK, et al.

Good and pure food, prepared with taste and quality in mind. The family really loved the food. We avoided the ghee, as it is fattening and harmful to the heart, though the waiters tend to be liberal in pouring ghee on almost everything !

Overall, the food is excellent, especially when one is hungry – the best way to enjoy this food is to have a longer time duration between lunch and dinner, or skip a meal ! Then one can enjoy the true import of the delicacies in a fuller manner !!

Next time, find your way on a hungry stomach to Panchavati Gaurav.
