Excellent wine from South Africa !
The one I tried was a 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot, and it was amazing. The mistake I made was to keep the bottle uncorked (or unscrewed as there was no cork) for more than a week. When I opened the wine and decanted it for some 20 minutes or so, it turned out to be a great wine. But not a good idea to keep it in the wine cooler for long time after opening. Consume it over a couple of days !
This is a smooth, easy-drinking wine of high calibre. The mix of the grapes from Pearl Valley / Mountain of Western Cape of South Africa has created a wonderfully soft and elegant wine which can be relished with penne pasta with tomato sauce like what I did ! Let the wine breathe well first, and then you can swirl it to see its high quality viscous flow in the right kind of wide-bottomed wine glass, and inhale its bouquet which is outstanding.
The Western Cape Region of South Africa is located at almost the southernmost region of the African Continent, it has a Mediterranean Climate with soils perfect for high quality grape harvest.
This Robert’s Rock Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot wine from the 2013 harvest depicts berry flavours, plums and it is spicy as well. I liked the wine when it hit the tongue with some acidic impact while delivering a berry flavour, and I got a sensation which I get when I drink very high quality Australian Cabernet Sauvignon wines. This is real good wine, not commonly available in Singapore.
I would strongly recommend this wine to wine lovers, and I am going to look for this wine (and related Robert’s Rock wines) on supermarket shelves soon.
Enjoy your wines responsibly !
