MINT

No, you guessed it wrong, I am not writing about different types of mint.

This short blog is about MINT – the business broadsheet, which is surely making an impact in the Indian business and financial world. I read it everyday.

You can take a look at the online edition at – “LIVEMINT”

Ofcourse, I like the printed edition more than the online one. Strange, but it is better to feel the paper and read sometimes. Too much of online reading, I guess.

Now, I felt compelled to write about this news medium on business and financial news. For a long time, The Economic Times has been the only primary newspaper on business, economics and finance. Then came along Business Standard, and Business Line from The Hindu staple of newspapers.

But the MINT represents a fresh breath of incisive and elaborately descriptive financial news coverage, and I just love it. Ofcourse, it is modelled after the Asian Wall Street Journal, but nevertheless there is not much of foreign stuff in it. The Indian market represents a vast reservoir of financial and business news today, and it requires expert coverage like the one provided by the MINT. There is also a lot of infrastructure news and analysis in the MINT, which is missing from other financial newspapers. Further, there are blogs run by the MINT journalists, quite informative and enjoyable.

I noticed that in the airport, people pick up the free copies of the general newspapers, more than they do with the financial newspapers. The MINT is left behind on the shelves ! I believe it provides the most exhaustive and informative analysis on the Indian Financial markets, and is a must read for all senior executives. And, may be the lay man also should read it !
